Canyon Gateway

Canyon Gateway is one of my newest paintings, an acrylic on canvas. It was inspired by the landscape where I live in western Colorado. On a drive toward a town named Gateway, I found a beautiful spot to stop. With the gate, the cottonwood trees in full fall color, and the canyon walls, the scene encompasses a soft western theme. In the past painting canyons has been a challenge for me, and in this piece I was able to explore shades, pepper it with oranges and purples the enhance my impressionist style, and had a great deal of fun with it.
