Blue and white nigella flowers

I painted these nigella flowers from life, when I painted a series of them. I grew them from seed and found them to be so intriguing that I studied them up close and did four paintings and one pen and ink drawing of them from life. This painting was done in a loose technique, letting some of the feathery leaves fade into the background, while letting the flowers and pod come forward.
