Sourced from a Plein air painting created in Baja MX. I wanted to capture the emotive qualities of this soft but strong geographical terrain...the interface between the sea and the land with honor and respect to the natural texture and colors of this pristine area of the Sea of Cortez. I wanted this painting to capture the ephemeral moment of the sunrise and the feeling of a peaceful, spiritually attuned morning.
These dunes provide natural coastal protection for the delicate strip of land serving as an interface between the Sea of Cortez and the desert beyond. Aeolian landforms are created by wind, water, and vegetation. I love these dunes and for me, they are a symbol of steadiness and strength while being smooth and beautiful curved shapes. They adapt and shift as required, yet provide safety and are home to their ecological habitat.
