Calm Nights was painted with soft pastels, on sanded Uart paper, en plein air on the shores of Lake Huron on the Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, Canada. I originally intended to go back to the studio and 'touch up' this piece, but there was something so peaceful about it, it simply would not allow me to disturb the initial laying down of soft colour that I saw that night!
