In my home, studio, and old birdcage sits empty. A little straw hat from my older daughter’s third birthday party sits on top. The hat has a faux bird on it. My daughter has grown up, graduated, college, and now lives on a coast far away. Outside my studio, I can always see birds flying around freely. As they should.
