The distant land
Watercolor on Arches Paper, In medieval towns of the Umbria region, Italy, only public relevance, such as cathedrals, churches, fountains, and town halls, were constructed as "object connotation." Ordinary buildings such as shops and dwellings were built and connected with one another. Together they formed homogeneous masses that make up the town's fabric. The fabric gives an image of continuity and shapes urban spaces, promoting the town's characters based on their location. In Italian hill towns, the fabric shapes beautiful spaces between them. With their existent, cozy narrow streets and beautiful piazzas are created. One can sense and experience such an inviting atmosphere when one experiences it. The ambiance is not on a particular building but on spaces between buildings.
