Roosevelt Lake

Oil on canvas. Left nearby camp shortly after sunrise with backback easel and supplies. Hiked steep trail upward in cool of morning seeking the perfect place to set up. Kept on trudging, thinking one particular view would knock me out. Instead I wore out and headed back down then stepped out of the mountain shadow and into the warmth of the trail above camp. Set up and bam. Finished in studio.
